Feature Story
HOW IT BEGAN

The photoshoot that marked the beginning of Tennessee Rose, a solo project of Theresa Berard.
In 2021, I had the opportunity to visit Parkville Sounds in Hartford, CT. I loved the vibe - lots of light and painted with brilliant orange, yellow, blue and teal. I was there just as a visitor, but it got me thinking about my goals as a musician. I was still playing with my band Opel and really enjoyed that. But I also missed playing guitar and I knew that some songs I was writing just weren’t a good fit for Opel. I remembered my dad encouraging me to sing songs performed by Patsy Cline and I decided it was time to bring this budding persona to light - after some research I came to the name Tennessee Rose.
I knew that I wanted a reference to a rose as it is a common motif in songs sung in the heyday of Patsy Cline, and earlier. Tennessee is the home of Patsy Cline’s memorial and the site of her fatal plane crash. Tennessee Rose became a fitting tribute to this talented singer who left this world too soon.
A Final Note
WHERE IN THE WORLD IS TENNESSEE ROSE?
I will be updating you fine folks through this newsletter on where to find me next! I have some show planning in the works.
In addition to open mics, I’ve been performing with Flip Factory - a collective producers that challenge each other to flip the same sample with their own style and present their work at a showcase. December 6th I’ll be playing my original music on guitar at Make-it-Springfield, a maker-space for the community of Springfield, MA. This marks the 2nd Anniversary of Flip Factory as well as coincides with one of the founding member’s birthday! So, please join me in celebrating!

Flyer for show on December 6th!!
